Can MyPC be used in a Public library when users login with their Library ID?

Yes MyPC can be installed in Public library mode. We can configure MyPC authenticate users against your LMS system via ODBC, SIP2, Talis Keystone for MyPC, text file.

Does MyPC work with Citrix?

Yes the MyPC client is supported on Windows Terminal Server / Citrix Environments (32-bit only Active Directory and Novell eDirectory only) Windows 2003 or 2008 Server with all the latest Service Packs and updates. (Not supported in Public Library environments).

What database management system (DBMS) does MyPC use?

MyPC uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and higher including the free express editions.

Do I need any separate software to run the reports?

No, MyPC administration and reports creation/viewing is all web-based. MyPC has preconfigured reports which can be simply run from the web interface and exported into various formats.

On which client PCs platforms is MyPC supported?

The MyPC clients supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 32-bit editions for Classic and Public Library modes. Windows 7 64-bit editions for Classic and Public Library mode. Mac OS 10.4 (10.6 and newer Mac OS in development). The MyPC windows client is provided as an MSI and can be deployed using your existing package for the deployment of software.

Do you support Virtual desktop infrastructure environments for the client?

The MyPC client is supported in VMware view environments via RDP. PCoIP support is currently in final stages of development please contact us if you are using this protocol in your VDI environment.

Does MyPC support any other languages besides English?

Yes, MyPC is a multilingual product and supports French, Spanish and German. If you require support for another language please contact us to discuss your requirements.

What end-user authentication does MyPC support?

MyPC supports end-user authentication against your network directory (including Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, RM or LDAP) or Library Management system. If your directory is not listed please contact us to discuss your needs.

Which browsers does MyPC support?

Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

Can users book themselves onto MyPC controlled PCs?

MyPC booking interface is web based and users can simply make the booking for themselves. MyPC includes policies to restrict the amount of time and how many times users can book PC by day or week.

Can staff block book computers?

MyPC allows for the block booking of PCs and the ability to make booking recurring if required.

What server platforms does MyPC use?

Microsoft Windows 2003 / 2008 Server with all the latest Service Packs and updates (32-bit & 64-bit).

Can I create sites and locations to reflect my organisation?

Yes, Sites and Locations can be created in the MyPC administration console which is web based.

Can MyPC bookings be made on a iPhone?

MyPC 5.0 provides support for booking via compact browser by the introduction of a simple booking interface.

Can MyPC charge for bookings?

MyPC charging module (optional) will allows charging for PC use. Policies can be configured to charge a fixed rate for the entire length of the booking or a differential rate. Certain user groups can also be automatically given discounts and the charging regime can be manually overridden by staff whenever required.

Can we print or email booking receipts of users bookings?

MyPC has the ability to email or print out booking receipts. The print booking receipt options can be switched off if required.

Can MyPC offer queuing where users join a queue and then wait for the next available PC?

Yes MyPC supports queuing.

Can MyPC show availability of MyPC controlled PCs?

MyPC 5.0 introduces the availability monitor which shows the available number of MyPC controlled PCs per site/location.

Can the MyPC web interface be customised?

The interface can be modified. The areas that can be customised are the logo and colours on the booking grid.

Is MyPC supported on Windows 7 64 bit machines?

Yes there is a Windows 7 64-bit MyPC client for Classic and Public Library environments.

Can I ban users in MyPC?

MyPC allows administration staff to ban users from accessing MyPC controlled PCs in particular locations or across all locations. Giving this power to MyPC administration staff lessens the need to call IT technical support to disable a users access to the network.

Some of our sites have different opening times? How does MyPC handle this?

With MyPC you can apply different opening and closing time per site or location.

Can I send messages to users whilst they are using a MyPC controlled machine?

Yes messages can be sent via the MyPC web interface. These can be predefined messages or free text. MyPC can also remove the ability for administration staff to send free text.

With MyPC can I book a block of PCs?

Yes MyPC allows staff or tutors to block book PCs
